I went to Sunrise multiple times as I like Persian food and I keep kosher. This time, I was so happy I found discounted gift certificates for this restaurant on restaurant.com. Although my wife and I had been to this place several times since it opened, we were NEVER pleased with the service. We went there for the food and nothing else.
So, we went again tonight with my wife and my 17-month old daughter. After the “typical” rudeness of the owner (the place was empty but he would not give us a table for 4 but only for 2!), we finally sat and ordered. The food was good, but…
as the check came, the waitress told me they were not accepting the gift certificate anymore. I asked to talk to the owner. Obviously, he did not move an inch, so I had to go to him. He told me he was not accepting the gift certificate anymore. I told him I purchased the certificate the day before and they were still referenced on restaurant.com. He could not care less. I gave him another chance and told him we are loyal customers but again, he couldn’t care less. I am calling Restaurant.com tomorrow to (1) have them remove the listing so they can’t have free referral traffic anymore, (2) tell them that they are not respecting their contract as the minimum commitment is 12 months and the place opened less than 7 months ago.

There is another Persian kosher restaurant across the street (Kolah Farangi), and I am urging EVERYONE to start going there. I thought they were not as good as Sunrise, but my friend tells me they improved dramatically since they have competition around the corner. Not only are they cheaper, but the service is better.

I am done with Sunrise, and I am waiting for them to go out of business. The same owners started Nathan’s (same location) a few years ago, before it closed down after customers deserted it. I understand why now…

    GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!
