NJ’s Kosher Chinese Express Loses Kashrut and Now Permanently Closed

9/8 UPDATE: The OK has issued a second update on this issue, including more background on the kashrut investigation as to why the decision to pull the certification was made.

Earlier this week, Manalapan, NJ restaurant “Kosher Chinese Express” had their kashrut pulled by the OK and subsequently closed.

In what appears to be a proper “kashrus scandal” – the owner of the restaurant was filmed loading cases of non-kosher (treif) chicken and meats into his vehicle which was suspicious enough to call the veracity of the restaurant’s kashrut into question.

While there was a lot of back and forth, originally reported by Elan Kornblum of Great Kosher Restaurants, ultimately, the OK’s investigation concluded that the kosher certification needed to be pulled, and the restaurant ultimately closed as a result.
