DAY 2: MONDAY
Get an early start by returning to Randall’s Meyer Park store to pick up prepared food for on-the-go lunches along your travels (2 meals). Depart for the long drive to New Orleans (6 hours total), but do activities along the way.
About 90 mins into the drive, stop at the Cattail Marsh Scenic Wetlands in Beaumont, Texas. Walk along the boardwalk for views of the very active wetland birding area, and explore parts of the hiking trails at the Marsh.
Drive 3 hours to Baton Rouge, explore downtown, and find a park to eat lunch (brought from Houston). Drive the last 90 mins to New Orleans and check into accommodations. After a long day in the car, it’s time to stretch your legs. If you’re with kids, visit the New Orleans Children’s Museum or Aquarium, and if not, embark on a French Quarter walking tour. Return to accommodations to get ready for a well-deserved dinner at Kosher Cajun, one of NOLA’s kosher restaurants. (Order a packed lunch for tomorrow’s excursion)
