No Longer Kosher: Blame Kiki in Panama City Drops Certification

Eye-Catching Kosher Spot in Panama Makes Major Change

Blame Kiki, the glamorous, pink-and-gold Italian restaurant that quickly became one of the most talked-about kosher eateries in Panama City, is no longer under kosher supervision as of May 23. The announcement, shared with a warning symbol across social media, marks a significant shift for locals and travelers who previously considered the hotspot a go-to destination for kosher dining in the region.

From Viral Aesthetic to Kosher Favorite

Located on the ground floor of the Yoo Panama building on Avenida Balboa in the Marbella neighborhood of Panama City, Blame Kiki was known for its whimsical cherry blossom canopy, luxe velvet seating, and curated Italian menu with standout pastas, drinks, and brunch items. It was often featured by kosher travel influencers, kosher tour groups, and Jewish travelers seeking a stylish dining experience in Central America.

The restaurant had operated under kosher supervision, attracting a steady stream of kosher-observant guests, especially from North America and Israel. That certification has now been officially removed, and the restaurant is no longer considered a kosher dining establishment.

What This Means for Kosher Travelers to Panama

This change may impact many visitors who plan kosher trips to Panama — a country that boasts nearly 40 kosher eateries despite having a relatively small Jewish population. Blame Kiki had become a favorite among those staying in or near the Marbella and Punta Paitilla neighborhoods, due to its central location, aesthetic appeal, and diverse Italian offerings.

Travelers looking to navigate the evolving kosher dining scene in Panama and want someone to plan their trip for them can turn to Panama Travel Co., a company specializing in personalized, kosher travel experiences. They assist with full trip planning, including restaurant reservations, transportation, and accommodations for kosher observant travelers. Their service ensures seamless travel through Panama’s rich kosher landscape, even when changes like these arise. Full disclosure: I worked with Panama Travel Co. earlier this year to plan my Panama trip, and they sponsored my trip.
