Sweet Crunch Tanghulu Brings Kosher Chinese Candies to American Dream Mall

A new kosher dessert shop is adding vibrant, fruity flavor to the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Sweet Crunch Tanghulu, opened last year on Level 1, Court G of the mall, brings the beloved Asian street food treat, tanghulu, to local shoppers—this time, with kosher certification.

Tanghulu is a traditional Chinese snack made by skewering fruits like strawberries, grapes, and citrus, then coating them in a thin layer of hardened sugar. The result is a sweet, crunchy glaze over juicy, refreshing fruit—a combination of textures that’s become a viral sensation online and a crowd favorite at food markets around the world. Sweet Crunch Tanghulu has taken that concept and made it accessible to kosher consumers by ensuring that all offerings meet kosher standards, now certified by the Chof-K.

This new kiosk is strategically located near Dunkin’, Cinnabon, and the Toys “R” Us Café, making it an easy-to-find and welcome addition to one of the mall’s busiest corridors. Whether visitors are stopping by for a snack between shops or looking for something sweet after a day at the DreamWorks Water Park or Nickelodeon Universe, Sweet Crunch Tanghulu is perfectly situated to catch attention and satisfy a sweet craving.

On display are skewers lined with strawberries, green and red grapes, tangerine slices, and even whole blueberries—each dipped in a crackly sugar shell that catches the light and delivers a loud, satisfying crunch. The fruit is fresh and naturally flavorful, while the clear sugar glaze adds just enough sweetness without overwhelming. While tanghulu is often sold in outdoor markets in China and Korea, Sweet Crunch Tanghulu is bringing this street-style snack indoors with a cleaner, more polished presentation—an ideal fit for the upscale yet family-friendly American Dream environment.

What makes this business particularly exciting for kosher shoppers is its combination of novelty and simplicity. Unlike many new dessert trends that rely on complicated toppings or processed ingredients, tanghulu keeps it fresh and natural. The menu is entirely fruit-based and pareve, which means it fits seamlessly into a kosher diet, whether after a meat meal or as a light afternoon treat. This makes it a great option for all kinds of visitors, from families with kids to teens exploring the mall with friends.

As more kosher eateries and kiosks open inside the American Dream Mall, Sweet Crunch Tanghulu helps expand the variety of experiences available to kosher observant shoppers. The mall already features several kosher options, and the arrival of Sweet Crunch Tanghulu introduces a type of treat previously unavailable locally in kosher form.

Sweet Crunch Tanghulu is open Sunday through Thursday from 11:00am to 10:00pm, with Friday and Saturday hours subject to mall and business adjustments.
