Chimichurri Charcoal Chicken Closed for Now – Here’s What We Know

UPDATE (April 2025): Both Chimichurri Charcoal Chicken locations on Long Island – in Carle Place and the Five Towns – are currently closed, with brown paper covering the windows (including the Mamoosh location in the Five Towns as well) and no official communication from the owners about their return. While rumors have swirled about a potential permanent closure, a source connected to one of the kosher supervisors has told YeahThatsKosher that the owners are reportedly planning renovations and intend to reopen after Passover 2025. However, there has been no official word from management to confirm this.

Until a public statement is made, the future of both locations remains uncertain.

Chimichurri’s Legacy in the Kosher Food Scene

When Chimichurri first opened its doors, it quickly established itself as a standout in the kosher dining world, combining Latin American flavors with smoky, juicy charcoal-grilled chicken. The fast-casual concept brought a fresh take to Long Island’s kosher scene, offering a menu that was bold, flavorful, and deeply satisfying. The concept hit a sweet spot for diners seeking quality, value, and consistent flavor.

From their signature whole or half charcoal chickens to their addictive garlic rice, yuca fries, and chimichurri sauces, it wasn’t uncommon to see lines out the door. It served as a go-to for family dinners, casual meetups, and even catered events. Over time, it became one of the most respected and talked-about kosher restaurants in the tri-state area.

A Potential Loss to the Community

If the closures become permanent, the kosher community will have lost not just a restaurant, but a local institution. Chimichurri filled a void in the market, offering something unique that wasn’t easily replicated elsewhere. Its blend of quality food, casual atmosphere, and accessible pricing made it a favorite among both locals and visitors from across the NYC metro area.

Many in the community are still holding out hope for a post-Pesach reopening. But the lack of transparency from the ownership team has left fans and loyal customers in limbo. Given its success and loyal customer base, the disappearance of Chimichurri would leave a major hole in the kosher culinary landscape.

What’s Next?

At this time, the future of both Chimichurri locations remains unknown. While we await a definitive update from the restaurant’s owners, we’ll continue monitoring the situation. If the locations do reopen after Passover as suggested, many will be eager to welcome them back. Until then, the kosher community watches and waits.

We’ll update this story as soon as more information becomes available.
