[MASTER LIST] Best Sufganiyot in Israel

As Chanukah rapidly approaches this weekend, sufganiyot are certainly on every foodie’s mind. Donuts have been in Israeli storefronts since just after Sukkos, but this week is really their time to shine. If you are looking to try some of the best and most creative kosher donuts in Israel, the list below is for you.

This list is not presented in any particular order and includes kashrut information for each:

  • Kadosh – The number one pastry shop in Jerusalem, probably one of the best in Israel. Offers classic sufganiyot but some new ones with a modern twist.
    • Kadosh specialty this year: sticky toffee pudding, kasis and marshmallows filling, hazelnut and a milk Ganache, pineapple marmalade and a pineapple glaze, raspberry and marshmallows filling, dark chocolate and a whiskey truffle topping, a sufganiya dough made out of chalva and sesame seeds, and a cronut

Kadosh
  • Boutique Central – Boutique Central is a nationwide boutique bakery offering many classic pastries, but this year they are offering the sufganiya cake! And a lot of other varieties of sufganiyot as well. Basically a treat for the whole family.

    • Badatz Beit Yosef
  • Gagou de Paris – A French bakery that has been in the heart of Jerusalem for over 25 years, offering classic French pastries all year long. But on Chanukah they break out all the stops and really invest in their sufganiya dough and fillings. All made in house.

Boutique Central
  • Cookie Cream – Cookie cream bakery is offering a crossover cookie sufganiya hybrid. Pastry cream filled sufganiya with a chocolate chip Cookie and brownie topping, or the chocolate filled sufganiya topped with nougat, chocolate coins, whipped cream and sprinkles. Extravagant and excellent.

  • Duvshanit – For a real classic sufganiya in Jerusalem, you need to stop by the Duvshanit bakery. Simple but some of the best classic sufganiyot you will find in the city.

  • Napoleon Patisserie – From the owners of kikar hamusica (they operate: Piccolino, Nachman, kinor bakikar, Andalucia) Napoleon Patisserie is a very French style patisserie with a Parisian flare, they are offering sufganiyot, eclair style, sliced down the middle and filled with different fillings and toppings. Flavors like halva, pistachio cream, creme patissire, the classic jams and dolce de leche.

Napolean Patisserie
  • Pat Bemelach – A specialty bakery/ restaurant in Efrat offering American style donuts for Chanukah with an amazing selection of sufganiyot. Will deliver for Chanukah.

  • Herby’s Bakery – Herbys is a classic American style bakery that makes American style donuts all year long, but on chanukah will be offering the classics as well. Delivery all over the Jerusalem area.

Pat Bamelach
  • Tadam – Tadam is a dessert shop located in Tel aviv offering a sufganiya shaped like pizza slices with crazy fillings and toppings – Nutella, pistachio and berries, salted caramel and much more.

  • Paletas – Newest innovation of Chanukah, a sufganiya ice pop made by the company called Palatas, who are an artisan ice pop maker who is distributed all over Israel. Insprired by Milk bar new york, They created an ice pop flavored sufganiya with a strawberry filling!

  • Biscotti Bakery – Biscotti Bakery is a kosher bakery that besides being a Bnei Brak staple bakery it is one of the largest suppliers of desserts to restaurants all around Israel! But on Chanukah they go all out with sufganiyot! Cinnabon style, red velvet, crack pie cookies and cream and much more.

  • Zak’s Bakery & Food – Zak’s Bakery is a staple in the city of Ra’anana. It’s a bakery/ restaurant that sells all kinds of pastries, but on chanukah they focus on sufganiyot. Doing mainly the classics, they are focusing mainly in the quality of the sufganiya and their fillings and not trying to show off too much
