Opening in the coming weeks, Calabria is a brand new kosher pizzeria offering pizzas typically served in Rome. Located across from Basil and Boeuf & Bun, Cambria adds a pseudo fast food element to the local high end kosher scene, serving pizza slices sold by weight, and a selection of Italian beers.
YeahThatsKosher received a sneak peek this weekend of the yet-to-be-opened eatery for an inside look at the eatery and their food:
Pizzas are served in rectangular strips, and the pies are massive rectangular trays. “Slices” can be as thin or thick as you like, as the pizza is sold by weight. Of the numerous offerings Calabria has to offer, the standouts include their eggplant & feta pizza, the Primavera vegetable cheeseless pizza, and the über unique sweet potato & pecan pizza.
Adding to the uniqueness of the joint, Calabria’s interior decor includes a colorful hand painted mural, and the 32nd perek (for ‘lev’) of Tanya covering the entire ceiling.
The restaurant owners expect to be testing their flavors, pricing, and recipes over the coming weeks and estimate an official grand opening a few weeks down the road.
The hashgacha for the restaurant is not yet determined, but it will likely be one of the local hashgachas serving the Crown Heights community.
Operating hours(posted to their website) are: Sunday – Thursday: 10:00AM – 1:00AM; Friday: 09:00AM – 1 Hour before Shabbat; Saturday: 1 Hour After Shabbat – 2:00AM
