If you’ve ever been to Romanian Kosher Sausage Company in Chicago, you know the hot dog situation there is on a different level. The flagship store on Devon Avenue is a pilgrimage for kosher meat lovers, and the signature hot dogs have a devoted following that goes well beyond the Chicago Jewish community. Now, for the first time, those same Romanian dogs are coming to you, no flights required. A new kosher food truck called Didi’s Dogs by Romanian is operating out of New Jersey and serving the broader tri-state area for private events and corporate gatherings.

The Concept
Didi’s Dogs is a catering-focused food truck, not a walk-up window. It was built specifically around one idea: taking Romanian’s legendary hot dogs and turning the experience of eating one into something interactive and memorable. The truck is owned and operated by close family friends of the Braverman family, who run Romanian Chicago, and it operates as an official extension of the brand in the New York and New Jersey market.
The menu is deliberately tight. The focus is on Romanian hot dogs in the 6-to-a-pound size, which hits the right balance between a satisfying bite and enough room for toppings. Guests load up their dogs at the window from a lineup that includes sauerkraut, fried onions, coleslaw, relish, spicy mayo, garlic mayo, mustard, and ketchup. The whole point is that people get creative, and from what the team describes, that’s exactly what happens at every event.

More Than Just a Hot Dog
The truck also offers loaded fries, which are built on a base of sliced Romanian hot dog and topped with the same array of toppings available for the dogs. For smaller or more intimate events, the team can bring Romanian’s signature deli sandwiches into the mix: pastrami and corned beef on rye with belly mustard, the same classic build you’d find at the Chicago store.
The default setup is a full-service experience. The truck arrives with cocktail tables, napkins, and everything needed to run the service. Guests come to the window, build their dog, and go. At corporate events it functions as a late-afternoon or post-dinner treat. At birthdays and family gatherings it can anchor the whole meal.

Who It’s For
Didi’s Dogs by Romanian books for weddings, corporate events, birthday parties, upsherin celebrations, and similar private functions. The coverage area is wide: the team has done events in the Five Towns, Lakewood, upstate New York, and Pennsylvania. If you’re planning an event within reasonable driving distance of the New Jersey base, they’ll come to you.
The pricing is straightforward. There’s a $1,500 flat travel and setup fee, plus a minimum of 100 hot dogs at $10 each. That puts the floor at $2,500 for the full experience, which includes full service, setup, and all toppings. Additional hot dogs and other Romanian products beyond the minimum are extra.
A second truck is also in production and will be based out of Chicago to serve that market.

Details & Hashgacha
The food truck operates under the KCL (Kashrus Council of Lakewood), with a mashgiach on-site and camera monitoring in the truck. The Romanian products used on the truck carry the hashgacha of Tartikov and the OU.
