New Kosher Gelato Shop “Créme” Now Open on Jersey Shore

Norwood Avenue in Deal has a new destination for kosher dessert lovers. Créme, a gelato and dessert shop serving the Jersey Shore’s Syrian Jewish community, opened on May 11, bringing a polished experiential concept to an area that takes its summer dining scene seriously. The shop is fully dairy, cholov yisroel, pas yisroel, and yashan.

Créme’s Concept

The concept centers on Italian-style gelato paired with a full lineup of dessert builds: bubble waffles, Belgian waffles, mini pancakes, milkshakes, frozen bananas, and loaded strawberries. Alongside the sweets, there’s a drinks menu covering iced coffee, smoothies, refreshers, and boba. The shop also carries candy, chocolates, and viral designer toys, leaning into the experiential dessert format that’s been gaining traction in kosher markets.

The Gelato Menu

The gelato lineup runs 16 flavors including Pistachio, Hazelnut (Nocciola), Tiramisu, Biscoff (Lotus Cookie Butter), Cookies & Cream, Cookie Dough, Fior di Latte, Strawberry Shortcake, Butter Pecan, and Coffee. Cookie Monster and Peanut Butter Crunch round out the more playful end of the selection. Gelato can be ordered straight or loaded into any of the waffle and pancake builds.

Signature Builds Worth Ordering

The bubble waffles come in three signature options: Banana Biscoff (cookie butter gelato, fresh banana, Biscoff drizzle), Berry Pistachio Deluxe (strawberries, pistachio gelato, chocolate drizzle, crushed pistachio), and Cookies & Cream Crush (C&C gelato, crushed Oreos, chocolate drizzle, whipped cream), plus a build-your-own option. Belgian waffle highlights include the Dubai Pistachio Crunch (strawberry, banana, pistachio cream, crushed pistachio) and the Berry Bomb (strawberries, whipped cream, Nutella drizzle).

The mini pancake menu includes a Crème Signature, Classic Nutella, Banana Blast, and a Mini Dubai Style option. On the drinks side, the Pistachio Iced Coffee combines pistachio cream with liquid coffee and milk over ice. Smoothies, fruit refreshers, boba, and freshly squeezed orange juice round out the drink options.

A Strong Standard for a Summer Crowd

The cholov yisroel, pas yisroel, and yashan standard across the board is significant for the Deal community, which skews Syrian and Sephardic and expects that level of kashrus from its dairy establishments. JSOR certification is the local standard for the area, and having all three designations on the certificate right out of the gate signals that Créme was built with this crowd in mind.

Summer Hours Starting in June

Current hours will expand when summer begins in June. Starting then, Créme will be open Sunday and Thursday until 11pm, Monday through Wednesday until 9pm, Friday until 5pm, and Motzei Shabbat from 30 minutes after Shabbat ends until 12:30am. Those late-night Motzei Shabbat hours put it right in the mix for the Deal summer scene, when Norwood Avenue sees heavy foot traffic well past midnight on Saturday nights.

Créme is located at 272 Norwood Avenue, Deal, NJ 07723. Current hours are subject to change; summer hours (starting June) are Sunday and Thursday 11am–11pm, Monday–Wednesday 11am–9pm, Friday 11am–5pm, and Motzei Shabbat 30 minutes after Shabbat until 12:30am. Kosher certification is under the Jersey Shore Orthodox Rabbinate (JSOR). Cholov yisroel, pas yisroel, yashan. All products are dairy or dairy equipment. Follow on Instagram: @cremenorwood.
