Carve Bistro has opened in Lakewood, NJ, bringing a steak-and-cocktail dinner spot to River Avenue. The kosher restaurant opened in June 2026 after more than a year in the works. Its dining room is set up for a night out rather than a quick counter-service meal, with reservations available through Carve’s website.
A Menu Built Around Small Plates and Flatbreads
The kitchen, led by a chef identified publicly as Chef Ben, divides its starters between meat, vegetable, and shareable plates. Beef carpaccio comes with shaved radish, garlic confit, capers, a balsamic reduction, cashew parmesan, and bruschetta. Smoked short ribs are paired with potato and shallot gratin, tempura onion rings, and chimichurri. The menu also lists duck confit gnocchi with mushroom jus and spinach, lamb dumplings with an Asian reduction, and lamb riblets with polenta and mushrooms.
For vegetable starters, tempura string beans come with chipotle mayo and a sweet hoisin glaze, while the cauliflower is served with crushed tomatoes, green tahina, crispy quinoa, and a honey-date glaze. Chicken choices include chili-honey-garlic glazed lollipops, sweet-and-sour chicken poppers, and chicken and waffle with pickled jalapeños and bourbon-maple syrup. Starters range from $16 for spicy garlic edamame to $36 for braised tongue.
Three flatbreads round out the opening courses: BBQ pulled beef with garlic confit and pickled onion; truffle pastrami with mushrooms, honey mustard and caramelized onion; and sriracha chicken with roasted peppers and shallots. Each is listed at $27. Carve tacos, filled with slow-cooked pulled brisket, BBQ sauce, guacamole and tomato salsa, are another shareable format.
Steaks, Fish, and Cocktails
Steak choices include boneless ribeye, filet mignon, bone-in prime rib, cowboy steak, and a 40-ounce tomahawk. The boneless ribeye is listed at $74, the cowboy steak at $145, and the tomahawk at $170; steaks include fries and demi-glace. Other mains include a prime burger, baby chicken, duck à l’orange, salmon, and branzino upon request. The non-steak entrées include two sides. Soup choices are creamy corn soup and chicken soup with matzah balls, both $15, plus chopped, Caesar, and kale salads.
The drinks program has a separate cocktail menu. Desserts include chocolate soufflé, crème brûlée, tiramisu, and biscuit-and-halva cake. Carve’s menu notes an automatic 18% service charge for all parties.

A Familiar River Avenue Address
Glatt Gourmet, a longtime kosher Lakewood restaurant, previously listed 1094 River Avenue as its address. Carve is now at the same property, bringing a new dinner-focused concept to a familiar kosher dining address.
