Burger Spot Opening New Location in Brooklyn

The Forest Hills Smash Burger Favorite is Coming to Midwood

Avenue J in Midwood is about to get another shot at the kosher burger game. Burger Spot, the glatt kosher smash burger joint that built a loyal following in Forest Hills, is opening a new Brooklyn location in the former Amsterdam Burger Co. space between East 13th and 14th Streets. The signage is already up, and the buildout appears to be underway.

A Proven Queens Concept Heads to Brooklyn

If you’ve spent any time in the Forest Hills kosher scene, you already know Burger Spot. The restaurant on 108th Street has been a go-to for Queens diners looking for quality smash burgers, crispy chicken sandwiches, falafel, and oat milk shakes. The brand built its reputation on late-night hours, indulgent comfort food, and a loyal neighborhood following that consistently packs the place on Saturday nights.

The Brooklyn expansion marks Burger Spot’s second new location announcement in recent weeks, following news that a Five Towns outpost is also in the works on Central Avenue. For a brand that operated as a single-location Queens staple for years, the rapid expansion signals serious momentum.

What to Expect on the Menu

Burger Spot operates as an all-meat restaurant with no dairy, so the “cheeseburgers” on the menu use vegan cheese. Standout items from the Forest Hills location include the Oklahoma Burger loaded with caramelized onions, the classic double smash, crispy chicken bites, and oat milk milkshakes. The menu skews toward the indulgent side of kosher fast-casual, and the format has clearly resonated with diners looking for something beyond the standard kosher burger experience.

New Life for a Familiar Space

The Avenue J storefront has had a turbulent run. Amsterdam Burger Co. closed abruptly in June 2025 after less than a year in operation, leaving a gap in the Midwood burger scene. Before that, the space sat empty for a stretch. Burger Spot stepping into the location brings a concept with a proven track record and an established customer base, which is exactly what this stretch of Avenue J needs.

Midwood is one of the most competitive kosher dining corridors in Brooklyn, and the burger category in particular has no shortage of contenders. But Burger Spot’s late-night-friendly format and Queens cult following could give it the edge that previous tenants in this space lacked.

Opening Details

No hard opening date has been announced yet. The signage is up and the buildout appears to be underway. Kosher certification for the Brooklyn location has not been confirmed publicly. The Forest Hills original operates under the Vaad Harabonim of Queens (VHQ).

Burger Spot is located at 1316 Avenue J, Brooklyn, NY 11230.
Hours and kosher certification details for the Brooklyn location are TBD.
