The capital of the U.S., Washington D.C., has a decent-sized Jewish population in and around the city, but also sees lots of Jewish tourists visit a plethora of the city’s museums (most of which are free), as well as for political reasons – to lobby your congressmen, to work in politics, or for many of us, to Rally for Israel.
While DC does have a number of kosher options, there’s only one proper kosher meat restaurant within the city limits (excluding one on-campus option). If you do leave the city and head to nearby Silver Spring or Rockville, there are more fleishig options. Most of the other kosher-certified options also happen to be vegan, but that doesn’t make them any less tasty.
Here are the current lists of kosher restaurants & eateries in DC and the surrounding areas:
- Washington, DC
- Maryland Suburbs (Rockville, Silver Spring, Wheaton)
- Virginia Suburbs (Alexandria, Arlington)
