Opening on the UWS in Manhattan on Monday for lunch is NYBF: NY Brat Factory. A small, nicely designed glatt kosher shop with affordable but tasty bar-type food. The restaurant has only seating for 8 people on bar stools, so a lot of its business will be take-out and delivery.
NYBF is most closely accessed by subway via the 1 train (103rd st station).
Here’s a picture of the menu on their digital board.
I was invited to a pre-opening tasting last night, so here’s my sneak peek of some of their food items:
Jalapeño Hot Dog w/pico de gallo – for spicy lovers, tasty but not too overpoweringly spicy
Garlic Fries – not too garlicky, savory, pretty good overall
Sugar & Cinnamon covered Churros – hot fried dough, comes with 2 dips, dough is amazing on its own – no dips necessary
Pulled Beef Spring Rolls w/refried beans – probably my favorite savory dish of the night
Pulled BBQ Brisket sandwich w/cabbage slaw & pickles – tasty and filling, and a bit saucy
Overall the food is good and worth a try. They are filling a niche in the upper Upper West Side community and the kosher community up at Columbia University / Barnard College / JTS and we wish them much success.
