Celebrated Jewish Chef, Andrew Weissman, is making his first foray into the kosher restaurant scene with Moshe’s Golden Falafel. Weissman saw the need not only for a delicious vegan, vegetarian and kosher eatery, but also for authentic middle eastern street food.
Weissman, who grew up eating falafel with his kosher keeping grandparents had fond memories of the Israeli delicacies he grew up enjoying, but he didn’t quite realize the demand until people started hearing about it.
The restaurant will serve falafel, fresh salads including Israeli, hummus, and babaganoush, as well as fresh pita, challah and baked goods.
The James Beard-nominated chef told us via Twitter, that going kosher has been one of the most rewarding and challenging things he’s done.
We might just have to take a trip to San Antonio to try it.
Moshe’s Golden Falafel is set to open mid-June and will be under the kosher supervision of the local San Antonio Vaad.
