Jonah’s Pizza will be opening a 3rd location in Hollywood, (2 locations currently in Miami Beach, and North Miami Beach), replacing JP Bistro, a staple in the community for the past 16 years.
JP Bistro (formerly known as Jerusalem Pizza) was first established in 1995 and was a staple in the Hollywood, FL area for years. Their large menu and tasty pizza kept the schools, shuls, camps, and the local neighborhood’s desire for pizza in check for decades. This past year, their ownership decided to divide the store in half and convert one side into a mexican themed sports bar/restaurant called Sir Taco. After the Dolphins started to play terribly, and with NBA lockout holding firm, crowds at the sports bar disappeared, and so did Sir Taco. After Sir Taco closed, it was only a matter of time until JP Bistro followed suit. A few weeks ago, JP Bistro closed its doors and the storefront sat empty for the first time in almost 20 years.
This past week, I walked by and noticed that there was a nice new banner hanging in the window. It read “Coming Soon: Jonah’s Pizza” with the familiar dove graphic stenciled in. Jonah’s Pizza, originally location on Miami Gardens Drive in North Miami Beach, had recently expanded to a storefront on 41st street in the heart of Miami Beach. Now they will be expanding into Broward County. Jonah’s Pizza is know for its enormous house pie slices (needing 2 plates to hold each slice), thin crust, and great specials. They also have delicious signature sandwiches with you have to see to believe. Ordering the Jonah’s Special on Focaccia bread is something that must be tasted to truly appreciate. In the ever expanding Kosher Pizza War in South Florida, which has now seen the close of JP Bistro, and the iconic Sara’s Pizza, it looks like Jonah’s is here to stay…
Thank you to @DaniOpp for the HT!
