ISRAEL: Public Transportation Update for Pesach (Passover)

Israel’s public transportation system affects all in Israel, religious or not, since majority of the intercity systems (if not all) shut down for Shabbat and Holidays.

The Israeli Railways system and the Egged Bus system have specific timetables set up so you’ll be able to navigate Israel before and after the chag. Just don’t get caught leaving too late. Here are the special time tables for both the intercity bus and rail systems.

ISRAEL RAILWAYS

  • Sunday 17 Apr 2011
    Trains will run to the Sunday timetable during the morning hours, and to the Thursday timetable in the afternoon.

  • Monday 18 Apr 2011 – Passover Eve
    Trains will run to the Friday timetable.

  • Tuesday 19 Apr 2011 – Passover
    Trains will run to the Saturday night timetable.

  • Wednesday 20 Apr 2011 – first Intermediate Day
    Trains will run to the Sunday timetable.

  • Thursday 21 Apr 2011 – second Intermediate Day
    Trains will run to the Thursday timetable.

  • Friday 22 Apr 2011 – third Intermediate Day
    Trains will run to the Friday timetable.

  • Saturday night 23 Apr 2011 – fourth Intermediate Day
    Trains will run to the Saturday night timetable.

  • Sunday 24 Apr 2011 – fifth Intermediate Day
    Trains will run to the Friday timetable.

  • Monday 25 Apr 2011 – seventh day of Passover
    Trains will run to the Saturday night timetable.

  • Tuesday 26 Apr 2011 – day after Passover
    Trains will run to the Sunday timetable.

Reserved Seats during Passover will not be available to accommodate for extra passengers.

EGGED BUSSES

  • Friday and holiday eves 08:00 – 15:00 (8AM – 3PM)
  • Saturday & Jewish festivals about 30 min after conclusion of Shabbat until 23:00 (11PM)
