Smash House is heading to the Baltimore area. The glatt kosher smash burger chain says it is officially planning a restaurant in Pikesville, Maryland, which would be its first Baltimore area location. The owner says the restaurant is expected to open around early December.

Smash House started in 2022 in North Miami Beach and has grown to ten locations across Florida, New York, New Jersey and California. Pikesville is home to Seven Mile Market, the largest kosher supermarket in the United States, and the chain has kept adding locations in kosher communities, most recently with a dedicated kosher stand at Barclays Center.

What Smash House Serves

The menu is built around smashed burgers, and the chain’s most popular items include Dirty Fries, crispy French fries topped with pulled brisket and the chef’s special sauce, and Popcorn Chicken. The Loaded Smashed is a double smashed burger with caramelized onion and beef bacon, served with smash sauce on the side, and the Philly Cheese Sando pairs chopped steak and caramelized onion on a bun. The Crispity Crunch is a crispy fried chicken cutlet with lettuce, tomatoes and pickles, and there is a Cobb Salad with grilled chicken for lighter orders.

Every Smash House location is dairy free and uses vegan cheese, so the cheese on a Smash House burger or sandwich is not dairy. The chain also has a kids menu with a Kids Smashed Burger, fries, a drink box and a prize, a loyalty program through the Smash House app, and catering from each location.

The Pikesville plan lands in a plaza that has seen change this year. The Club Deli & Grill, a Star-K restaurant that opened there in 2023, closed in August, while Goldberg’s New York Bagels, which shares the plaza, said in a community statement that it plans to keep serving customers.

Smash House already operates in North Miami Beach, Brooklyn, the 5 Towns and Manhattan, Midtown Manhattan, the Catskills, Monsey, Lakewood and Los Angeles. Its Brooklyn shop opened last summer, and the chain is also opening a kosher stand at Barclays Center.

The planned Pikesville location is at 1500 Reisterstown Rd., Pikesville, MD 21208. The owner says the restaurant is expected to open around early December. More information is available at smashhouseburgers.com.
