How Uber Teen Accounts Work
Uber Teen is designed for riders ages 13 through 17. A parent or legal guardian creates a Family profile in the Uber app, chooses “Teen,” and sends an invitation by text. The teen then creates a linked account and completes Uber’s required safety onboarding before requesting a ride. Rides use the default payment method on the guardian’s Family profile, and guardians can set spending limits.
To trigger this referral offer, the parent must use the referral link, set up the teen account, and have the teen complete a first ride through that account. The $25 is Uber Cash for future eligible Uber transactions, not a cash payment. The offer shown in the app does not promise that every account or location will qualify, so review the terms displayed in your Uber app before completing signup.
What Parents Can See During the Ride
Uber says teen trips include live trip tracking, automatic status updates, PIN verification, RideCheck alerts for possible route deviations or unexpected stops, and a destination lock that prevents the driver from changing the destination. Guardians can follow the ride in the Activity section and contact the driver during a live trip. Teen riders can also opt in to automatic audio recording where the feature is available.
These tools add oversight, but availability varies by city. If Uber Teen is not available locally, riders generally must be 18 or older to use Uber on their own.
Using the $25 Uber Cash
Once the teen completes the qualifying first ride, Uber says a $25 credit is available for 30 days. Check the balance and expiration in the app.
