Santa Fe, New Mexico, has recently welcomed its first kosher restaurant, Manhattan Avenue Deli, located at the Santa Fe Jewish Center. This new establishment brings a slice of New York City to the Southwest, providing a variety of traditional kosher deli items to locals and visitors alike. Until recently, the nearest kosher restaurants to Santa Fe were several hundred miles away in Denver, but that has changed with the opening of Manhattan Avenue Deli.
The menu at Manhattan Avenue Deli is rich with classic offerings such as bagels and lox served with non-dairy cream cheese, pastrami on rye, corned beef, Reuben sandwiches, schnitzel, falafel, chicken matzoh ball soup, and latkes. The deli aims to serve the local Jewish community, visitors to Santa Fe, and any local who wants New York style deli. It is particularly appealing to those from the East Coast who are hungry for a taste of home.
The creation of Manhattan Avenue Deli became possible following a major renovation of the Jewish Center’s property at 230 W. Manhattan Ave, largely completed in 2023. This renovation included the establishment of a 1,200 square foot industrial kitchen, specifically designed for the preparation of kosher food, both for in-house events and now for the public through the deli. This development marks a significant cultural addition to Santa Fe’s vibrant food scene, which previously lacked kosher dining options.
Manhattan Deli is situated at 230 W. Manhattan Ave, Santa Fe, NM. The kosher certification for the deli is provided by the local Chabad.
Currently, the deli operates on Wednesdays from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM and Thursdays from 11:30 AM to 6:00 PM. For more information or to place an order in advance, interested parties can call 505-448-0400.
