After five years of serving the Monsey community, Pomona Kosher Grill has officially closed its doors. The beloved restaurant, located at 1621 Route 202, Unit 6, Pomona, NY, was known for its authentic kosher Korean cuisine, a rare find in the kosher dining world.

Diners praised Pomona Kosher Grill for its fresh ingredients, flavorful dishes, and generous portions at fair prices. The restaurant specialized in classic Korean flavors, including bulgogi – thinly sliced beef marinated in soy sauce with onions, peppers, and carrots, served with stir-fried vegetables, green salad, and rice.
Another fan-favorite was the avocado bibimbap, a bowl of steamed quinoa with fresh vegetables and an oriental dressing. For those looking for heartier options, the menu featured a thick, tender rib steak, crispy chicken sandwiches, and grilled chicken breast.
In addition to its Korean offerings, Pomona Kosher Grill served up American classics, making it a go-to spot for locals and visitors alike. The restaurant operated under the kosher supervision of Rabbi Steinmetz and was approved by the RKOC.
Smash House Burgers Coming to Monsey
Taking over the space will be Smash House Burgers, a growing kosher burger chain with locations across the Northeast and Florida. The brand has made a name for itself with its smashed-style burgers, stacked sandwiches, and creative comfort food.

Smash House Burger menu features a variety of signature items, including the Loaded Smash, a double smash burger with vegan cheese, caramelized onions, and beef bacon. Another standout is the Philly Cheese Sando, which consists of chopped grilled steak, caramelized onions, and vegan cheese on a fresh roll.
For those looking for something lighter, the Mexican Salad is a favorite, featuring grilled chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, purple onion, black beans, grilled corn, and spicy mayo on the side.

Smash House also offers a wide range of sides, including their famous Blooming Onion ”a crispy fried whole onion served with honey mustard” and their Dirty Fries, topped with pulled brisket and chef’s special sauce.
Expanding Kosher Options in Monsey Area
The addition of Smash House Burgers to Monsey & Pomona’s kosher dining scene will bring a new and exciting option for burger lovers in the area.
The chain already operates locations in Queens, Midtown Manhattan (47th Street and 37th Street), 5 Towns, Woodbourne, Miami, and Boca Raton. Each location offers dining, take-out, and catering services, making it a convenient and family-friendly choice.
While Pomona Kosher Grill’s closing marks the end of a beloved local eatery, the arrival of Smash House Burgers is set to bring bold flavors and a fresh concept to the area.
Smash House is expecting to open just before or just after Pesach 2025.
