Avios points can be used via American Airlines, Air Berlin, Cathay Pacific, Finnair, Iberia, LAN, Qantas, and a handful of others. [Full list here] These points are often best used on short distance flights, especially short distance international flights that are often pricey if paid out in full (NYC-TORONTO as an example) since the cost to use your miles is based on distance only.
