Noribar, the Brooklyn kosher sushi restaurant group, is opening a new location in Lakewood, New Jersey, its first outside New York City. The company announced that the restaurant is coming soon to River Avenue, in the space that was home to Dips Lakewood. It will be Noribar’s fifth location. Lakewood is home to one of the largest Orthodox Jewish communities in the country, and its kosher dining options have grown steadily in recent years.
Dips Lakewood’s Short Run on River Avenue
The space previously housed Dips Lakewood, the New Jersey branch of the Brooklyn sandwich and burger chain. Dips, owned by Yoily Hershkowitz, opened in January 2025 with a build your own menu of sandwiches, burgers and paninis, including a chef’s style Chaptzem sandwich, under the kosher supervision of CRC Kashrus. The restaurant has since closed, and Noribar is now preparing the site for its sushi concept. The move gives the chain a ready made restaurant space in the heart of Lakewood’s main commercial corridor.
The Noribar Menu
Noribar opened its first restaurant on 13th Avenue in Boro Park in 2015 and added a Crown Heights location in 2017, building its name on an all-kosher sushi menu of fish and pareve dishes. The menu runs from classic raw and cooked rolls to tempura rolls, vegetable rolls and the restaurant’s exotic specialty rolls, plus nigiri, sashimi and bento boxes. Cooked rolls keep the menu accessible to diners who avoid raw fish, and a line of Tanya Approved rolls targets the health conscious.
Beyond sushi, the kitchen serves build your own poke bowls, salads, soups and appetizers like bang bang broccoli in a General Tso dressing, sesame salmon poppers and spicy kani. Sushi platters are available for larger orders, and the restaurant offers online ordering and curbside pickup.
