For the first time ever, the Kosher Food and Wine Experience was held at Tierra Sur in Oxnard on Sept. 10. The event sold around 150 tickets, offering more of an intimate, VIP experience. It allowed attendees to eat and taste with shorter lines, while connecting with other foodies.
KFWE featured wines and spirits from Royal Wine, which owns Herzog, with Old World wines from Italy, France, Spain and Portugal, in addition to more modern wines from Israel and the U.S.
Chef Austin and the Tierra Sur team cooked up several signature dishes such as fried chicken sandwiches with hot honey, smoked brisket, twice-baked potatoes, meatballs and much more.
Each attendee was given a tasting plate and a complimentary wine glass to taste the various wines and spirits offered throughout the event. Spirits included Tomintoul Scotch, Boondocks Bourbon and Zarza Tequila.
The event didn’t disappoint, with food that pairs perfectly with the various wines offered.
KWFE is expected to return to the larger-scale event in Los Angeles next year.
