jscreen Partners with Manischewitz for February Genetic Screening Events in NYC

A series of community genetic testing and education events are scheduled in New York City this February in recognition of Cancer Prevention Month, led by jscreen in partnership with Manischewitz and health advocate and author Gila Pfeffer. The programs combine on-site genetic screening access with public health education and community engagement, along with food service from the Manischewitz food truck.

The first event is scheduled for February 8 at the Marlene Meyerson JCC Manhattan as part of a fitness open house program. A second screening event is planned for February 11 at Yeshiva University. Both events focus on expanding access to genetic testing tied to hereditary cancer risk and reproductive carrier screening.

Attendees at these programs can pick up test kits and learn about available screening options, including panels that evaluate genetic mutations associated with breast, ovarian, and colorectal cancers, as well as carrier screening for inherited conditions that are more common in Jewish populations. The events are structured as educational and preventive health opportunities, with on site support and scheduled pickup windows.

Manischewitz Food Truck Menu and Offerings

Alongside the testing events, the Manischewitz food truck is scheduled to be on site, serving a rotating selection of branded comfort foods and traditional favorites. Based on recent truck appearances and published menus, typical offerings include items such as hot dogs, knishes, jumbo soft pretzels, matzo ball soup, latkes, and packaged snack items tied to the Manischewitz product line. Seasonal and promotional menu items are often added depending on the event and location.

The truck is designed as a mobile extension of the brand’s prepared foods and pantry staples, giving visitors the opportunity to sample classic items in ready to eat form. Service is structured for quick throughput, with grab and go style dishes and hot foods prepared for immediate consumption.

Education and Community Health Focus

The February 8 program also features participation from Gila Pfeffer, known for her breast health awareness campaign encouraging early detection and routine self-checks. Event organizers state that the goal is to pair practical prevention tools with accessible education and conversation around genetic risk.

Registration is required in advance for screening participation, with specific event codes assigned for each location. Test kits are distributed on site, with lab processing typically billed through insurance plans where applicable. The programs are open to the broader community and structured to increase early detection and preventive care awareness through direct access and in person engagement.
