PopUp Bagels at Suburban Square in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, now carries a limited kosher certification from National Kosher Supervision. The certificate covers the bagels and two cream cheeses, and nothing else on the menu. It is the first kosher PopUp Bagels we have reported in Pennsylvania.
The Philadelphia area debut
The Ardmore shop opened on March 20, 2026, as the chain’s first location in the Philadelphia area. It took over the former Juice Press space at Suburban Square, and the Philadelphia Inquirer reported more than 100 people in line by 7:30 AM on opening day. The franchisee is Brian Harrington of Montgomery County, whose company told the Inquirer it plans to open more shops, including in Center City and Marlton, New Jersey.
How PopUp Bagels works
The chain does not slice or toast its bagels, and it does not make sandwiches. Customers buy bagels hot and whole in sets of three, six or 12, each set paired with 7-ounce containers of cream cheese or butter, and tear them apart to dip. Adam Goldberg started the brand in Connecticut in 2020 as a backyard pickup window. Each shop also rotates a flavored schmear every week, which matters for kosher customers because those flavors fall outside the certification described below.

Ardmore address, hours and kosher certification
PopUp Bagels is at 10 Coulter Avenue in Suburban Square, Ardmore, PA 19003, in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County. The shop is open every day from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, including Shabbat.
The certificate posted in the shop names the Ardmore location specifically and is signed by Rabbi Aaron D. Mehlman, executive rabbinical director of National Kosher Supervision. It is marked “Limited Hechsher” and lists exactly what is certified. The bagels are kosher, pareve and not Pas Yisroel. The plain and scallion cream cheeses are kosher and not Cholov Yisroel. Every other flavored cream cheese and schmear is not kosher. Packaged lox is kosher only when it carries an OU symbol. The certificate also states that nothing is certified for Passover, and that items may be bought immediately after the holiday ends.
