PopUp Bagels has officially opened its first Los Angeles location, marking a major expansion for the New York–born bagel concept that has built a devoted following on the East Coast. Known for its minimalist menu and its signature “rip-and-dip” style of serving bagels, the brand’s arrival in Southern California brings a familiar name to a market that continues to see growing interest in elevated, specialty bagel concepts.
Founded in 2020, PopUp Bagels started as a small, pandemic-era project that focused on doing one thing well: serving hot, freshly baked bagels meant to be enjoyed whole. Rather than slicing bagels and assembling traditional sandwiches, the concept encourages customers to tear the bagels by hand and dip them into a rotating selection of schmears. That approach has become central to the brand’s identity and has helped differentiate it from more traditional bagel shops.

A New York Bagel Concept Arrives on the West Coast
The Los Angeles opening represents PopUp Bagels’ first permanent West Coast location and signals confidence in the brand’s ability to translate its model to a new audience. The shop emphasizes freshness and simplicity, with bagels baked continuously throughout the day so they are served warm. The focus remains squarely on the bagel itself, highlighting texture and flavor without overcomplicating the experience.
Menu offerings typically include classic bagel varieties such as plain and sesame, alongside a selection of rotating cream cheese spreads. These schmears have become a defining part of the PopUp Bagels experience, often featuring both traditional flavors like scallion as well as more creative or seasonal options. The changing lineup encourages repeat visits while maintaining a tight, curated menu.
NOTE: Only the plain & scallion cream cheese schmears are kosher certified. The other flavors are not.

What Customers Can Expect
Inside, the Los Angeles location mirrors the brand’s clean, modern aesthetic seen at its East Coast shops. Orders are streamlined, designed for efficiency and consistency rather than customization-heavy service. This approach aligns with PopUp Bagels’ philosophy of prioritizing product quality and speed over an expansive menu.
The opening has generated attention not only because of the brand’s reputation, but also because it adds another notable bagel option to a competitive Los Angeles food scene. For transplants from New York and longtime bagel fans alike, the shop offers a familiar style that contrasts with both classic deli bagels and newer hybrid interpretations found across the city.

Address and Kosher Certification
PopUp Bagels’ first Los Angeles location is located in the Brentwood neighborhood at 11710 San Vicente Boulevard, Los Angeles, California. This location is kosher certified under National Kosher Supervision (NKS), although, like the other Pop-Up Bagel shops, most of the schmears are not certified, only the plain & scallion cream cheeses and the bagels.
