Downtown Brooklyn just picked up another kosher option, and this one is right in the middle of one of the borough’s busiest corridors. SoBol, the acai bowl and smoothie chain with over 100 locations nationwide, now has kosher certification at its Flatbush Avenue location near Barclays Center.
What SoBol Serves
SoBol is built around customizable acai bowls with bases ranging from classic acai to pitaya (dragonfruit) and chocolate cacao. Every bowl starts with a layer of SoBol’s house-made granola, then gets topped with fresh fruit, coconut flakes, nut butters, seeds, honey, and other add-ons assembled to order. The menu also includes green bowls, nine smoothie flavors, Belgian waffles, fresh juices, and grab-and-go items. The chain blends its acai fresh daily and uses no ice, powder, or syrup in its blends.

Kosher Details
Most of the products at the Flatbush location are pareve. A list of dairy items (which includes milchig keilim) is available in the store. The kosher certification is under Rabbi Asher Schechter of Congregation Ohr Moshe of Hillcrest, who also certifies eight other SoBol locations across the New York area.

Special Promotion
Through July 15th, customers at the Flatbush location can receive 15% off their purchase by saying “Thank you for being Kosher” at checkout. The promotion applies only to this location.
Other Kosher SoBol Locations
Rabbi Schechter’s hashgacha also covers SoBol locations in Forest Hills, Franklin Square/West Hempstead, Fresh Meadows, Hewlett, Long Beach, New Rochelle, Great Neck, and the Upper West Side. All other SoBol locations in the area are not kosher certified.
The Flatbush Avenue spot sits in the Pioneer Building, just steps from Barclays Center, Atlantic Terminal, and the Atlantic Avenue transit hub, making it an easy stop before or after events. For anyone heading to a game or concert at Barclays who wants a quick kosher bite, this fills a real gap in the immediate area.
SoBol Flatbush is located at 41 Flatbush Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11217. The store is open Monday through Friday 8am to 9pm, Saturday 8am to 8pm, and Sunday 8am to 8pm. Phone: (917) 636-7633. Kosher certification is under Congregation Ohr Moshe of Hillcrest, Rabbi Asher Schechter.
