UPDATED: Pomegranate Restaurant is now open! The restaurant serves Bukharian cuisine, including traditional dishes such as manti (steamed dumplings), shurpa soup, and samsa (a meat-filled fried pastry.) Their website also offers a really interesting history of Bukharian Jewry in their About Us section. Their hours are 11:30 am- 11:00 PM and on Saturdays from hour after Shabbat ends until 12:30 am.
Pomegranate Restaurant, not to be confused with the Pomegranate supermarket in Brooklyn, is a new restaurant that will be opening up on Yellowstone Boulevard in Forest Hills, Queens!
The restaurant will be Glatt Kosher Middle Eastern fare. However, since their website, like their physical restaurant, is still under construction, we can’t tell you much about it yet, but we’ll post more info as we learn it!
“Pomegranate Restaurant, not to be confused with the Pomegranate supermarket in Brooklyn”
There are a gazillion names they could have chosen. Why choose Pomegranate?!
Having worked previously as a private investigator in trademark litigation and research, while this isn’t a trademark, the sheer fact that this article was intro’d as “not to be confused with” is going to cause a problem. Maybe they asked permission and got it, but they could have made a minor effort to be creative and think of a new name. It doesn’t give me confidence that the fare will be good if they can’t be original and unique with the first thing you think of before you step into their restaurant.
This was my first reaction too — why make things confusing and complicated for the customer? It’s going to make building an online brand a little more complicated too.
I agree, the name is confusing! But it’s nice to have this type of restaurant opening over there.
