UPDATE, 3/11/25 PM
I just received an update from Rabbi Schechter that the business has recommitted to keeping their kashrut standards, and the rabbi has agreed to reinstate their hechsher. The rabbi credits the YeahThatsKosher article, published less than 8 hours ago, in pressuring the business to keep up the standards for their kosher certification.
Here’s the email we received from Rabbi Schechter:

Original post, 3/11/25 AM
Effective immediately, Rabbi Asher Schechter has withdrawn his kosher certification (hechsher) from Gotta Getta Bagel, formerly known as Bagel Boss, at 1st Avenue and 15th Street in New York City. The removal of certification is due to what Rabbi Schechter describes as a “lack of cooperation from management.”
This change means that the establishment is no longer under his supervision, and kosher consumers should be aware of this update before dining there. Rabbi Schechter continues to certify Bagel Boss of Murray Hill, located at 3rd Avenue and 36th Street, which remains under his kosher certification.

Gotta Getta Bagel had been operating under the hechsher of Rabbi Schechter, providing kosher bagels, spreads, and other baked goods in the neighborhood. However, the decision to withdraw certification signals a shift in the restaurant’s compliance with kosher supervision requirements.
The Gotta Getta Bagel location in Woodmere, NY remains kosher certified by the Vaad of the 5 Towns.
Consumers are always encouraged to verify kosher certification status before purchasing food, as supervision changes do occur.
