Uber Taxis Are Now Available in Jerusalem — 50% Off Rides This Week

Having launched in Tel Aviv this past August, the SF based ride-sharing/taxi startup, Uber, has finally ventured into the Israeli capital, taking on homegrown startup Gett.

As a promotion, Uber is offering Jerusalemites 50% off rides within the first 5 days. This promo started yesterday, on Yom Yerushalayim, and goes through this Friday, May 22nd @ 4pm.

Uber is claiming to not only improve the taxi experience, but also make it cheaper for Israelis.

Due to Israeli laws, Uber most popular offering, UberX, which promotes non-registered drivers to serve as pseudo-taxi drivers, is not allowed in Israel. Those calling on Uber vehicles will be hailing registered and licensed Israeli taxis.
