The fast-growing kosher bakery concept Bo-re-kas Sephardic Pastries is continuing its expansion across Los Angeles with a newly announced location coming to Beverly Hills. The move signals the brand’s transition from a niche Valley favorite into a broader LA presence, targeting one of the city’s most high-traffic and upscale dining corridors.
This will be Borekas’s 4th location in the great Los Angeles area.
From Sherman Oaks Sensation to Multi-Location Brand
Borekas first launched in the San Fernando Valley and quickly built a reputation for long lines, daily sell-outs, and a highly focused menu centered around one core product: traditional Sephardic borekas. The concept was created by chef Uzi Wizman, who brought Israeli-style pastries to Los Angeles with a technique-driven approach that emphasizes laminated dough, clarified butter, and high-quality ingredients.
What started as a small takeout window in Sherman Oaks rapidly gained traction, becoming one of the most talked-about specialty kosher concepts in LA’s Israeli & kosher food scene. Demand has consistently outpaced supply, with customers often lining up early in the day before items sell out.
The brand has since expanded its footprint with additional Valley operations, positioning itself as a focused, product-driven bakery rather than a full-service restaurant.

A Focused Menu Built Around One Product
Borekas operates with a tight, deliberate menu built around its namesake pastry. These baked items are a staple of Israeli street food culture, typically made from flaky dough and filled with a variety of savory or sweet fillings.
At Borekas, the offerings typically include:
- Cultured cheese and za’atar
- Spinach and cheese
- Potato with brown butter
- Mushroom and truffle
- Seasonal or sweet options like chocolate
Each order is commonly served with accompaniments such as soft-boiled eggs, pickles, and house-made sauces, creating a composed dish rather than a simple pastry grab-and-go experience.
The brand also differentiates itself by avoiding seed oils and emphasizing traditional preparation methods, which has become part of its identity and appeal.

Beverly Hills Move Signals Next Phase of Growth
Opening in Beverly Hills represents a strategic shift for the brand. South Beverly Drive is known for its dense mix of restaurants, cafes, and foot traffic, drawing both locals and tourists. This location places Borekas directly into a more competitive, high-visibility market compared to its original Valley base.
The expansion suggests a few key developments for the brand:
- Increased production capacity to meet ongoing demand
- A push into more premium and central LA neighborhoods
- Continued validation of niche, single-focus kosher concepts
It also reflects a broader trend within the kosher dining space, where highly specialized concepts, doing one item exceptionally well, are gaining traction over larger restaurant formats.

What to Expect From the New Location
While full details about the Beverly Hills outpost have not yet been publicly confirmed, expectations based on existing locations point to a similar model:
- Takeout-forward format with limited seating
- Early opening hours with mid-day sellouts likely
- A consistent core menu with possible location-specific variations
Given the brand’s track record, initial demand at the Beverly Hills location is expected to be strong, especially among both kosher consumers and the wider LA food audience already familiar with the concept. The opening is expected later this year, though no specific date has been announced.
