Upscale Mediterranean-Israeli LA Restaurant, Basbussa, Turns Kosher

In the wake of the Oct. 7 tragedy, restaurants across Israel decided to kasher their kitchens for the sake of creating unity for the Jewish people.

Inspired by the culinary scene coming together in Israel, Chef Elioz Cohen decided it was time to do the same for his LA-based restaurant. Basbussa officially gained kosher certified in December of 2023 under the RCC.

The restaurant features high-end Middle Eastern food and specialized sushi rolls. Basbussa’s most popular dishes tend to be its skewers, including Chilean sea bass, lamb chops, schnitzel and much more. The menu also features an assortment of tacos and flatbreads with either short ribs, shawarma or a vegetarian option.

Basbussa offers five signature cocktails inspired by Israeli drinks, high-end Israeli wines and bottle service is available for larger parties. The restaurant has a lively vibe and is ideal for those looking for a kosher late-night option.
