After more than a decade on 18th Ave on the cusp of Borough Park, Dougie’s will be shutting its doors permanently this Sunday. While the restaurant was able to ride the coattails of the original Dougie’s on the Upper West Side, that too, along with the branch in Queens has since closed. It seems that [...]

Over the past few months, businesses downtown have been hit hard by a combination of Occupy Wall Street protesters and subsequent NYPD barricades. Combine this with high rents in a large space, and that is likely what did in Milk Street Cafe on Wall Street, which was doing well before the September protests began. Milk [...]

I love reading about new kosher restaurants in places where I don’t expect it. Not long ago, opening a Kosher restaurant in Moscow would’ve been unheard of. Now there’s a growing Jewish community to support it. According to this article in the Moscow News, Noodles is a Brooklyn-inspired Kosher meat restaurant that has a nice [...]

Burgers Bar on Central Ave. in Cedarhurst, NY has closed. While this is sad for us BB lovers in the area, I can’t say that I didn’t see it coming. My last 2 experiences there, the food was not up to par. Additionally, with some newer options in the area, including Carlos & Gabby’s (who [...]

According to this source, even though some of Milk Street’s business has bounced back since the beginning of the Occupy Wall Street protests began a few months ago, many of the NYPD barricades still remain on and near Wall Street despite the closing of Zuccotti Park as a campsite for the movement. Marc Epstein, the [...]

This came as news to me. Apparently there has been a kosher kiosk operating inside of the SONY building for some time now (at least that’s what their website claims). Rieu Cafe is a pretty little stand in the SONY building lobby with high end coffee, bagel sandwiches, and numerous pastries including cookies, muffins, croissants, [...]

“Kosher Roast” is renting out a bar called “The Shop” in the Kensal Rise neighborhood of London. The Shop will be converted into a Kosher restaurant for 2 Sunday’s next month: December 4th and 11th. This is clearly a concept that the founders of Kosher Roast are testing. For each of the 2 days, only [...]

The world’s most famous arena, Madison Square Garden, has thousands of kosher keeping fans attending its Knicks (well maybe not this year) and Rangers games, yet has yet to offer any sort of kosher fare in the arena … until now. It has been confirmed that Carlos & Gabby’s will be operating Kosher stands within [...]

The Occupy Wall Street (#OWS) movement is now running on its 7th week of mass protests in lower Manhattan. While the crowds are fighting for better wages, jobs, and other economic issues, one of their unintended casualties has been a local Kosher restaurant: Milk Street Cafe, located on Wall Street, and just opened this summer [...]

Soom Soom is open at Lexington Ave and 56th st. in NYC. Personally, I think it’s the best kosher falafel in New York. The salad bar has a larger selection than the uptown sister store – this includes, among other things, beets, guacamole and fried cauliflower. The staff was friendly. Service was good and fast. [...]
