According to The Independent (original article), Switzerland and Israel topped the list of “Adventure Tourism”. Last month I had the opportunity to go on a half day kosher winery tour with My Israel Wine Tours, led by Esther Cohen. We visited two wineries in the Judean Hills, about 25-35 minutes outside of Jerusalem: Tzuba Winery & Tzora Winery. At Tzuba, we were shown the wine making facilities, explained the entire [...]

Sandwiched between the Old City, the city center, and the fancy hotel district (the area with David’s Citadel, King David Hotel, and the future Waldorf Astoria) is the magnificent outdoor Mamilla Mall. Not long ago, this area was empty for decades, with nothing more than a parking lot a few years ago. Today, this thin [...]

Roladin is a delicious bakery/ restaurant/ cafe I had the opportunity of trying on a recent stay in Jerusalem. The restaurant is located at the Mamilla mall, near the Jaffa Gate of the Old City. The place is somewhat pricey for dairy, but well worth it. The restaurant offers a well lit indoor seating area, [...]

I know that Israel turns 63 today, but putting together a list of 63 things is a daunting task. Maybe next year I’ll work on 64 things. And in no particular order… 1) The rich history – Jewish & non-Jewish, it happened here. The Torah / Bible? Yeah, most of that takes place here. The [...]

This was my first ever Pesach not at my home (or parents’ or in-laws’, etc.), but I now understand what one of my family said over dinner one night, “I can understand how a program like this could put you off making Pesach at home forever.” The Food An unlimited supply of meats and fowl [...]
