switching from the vegetarian cuisine it’s been serving since 2010.

Owner Jonathan Wornick, himself a strict vegetarian, felt it was the logical and necessary next step in order to distinguish his business from the other restaurants in the area. There are other vegetarian options, but this will be the first glatt kosher meat restaurant in the East Bay.

Amba’s menu will include beef kabobs, chicken shawarma (not lamb), schnitzel, falafel, sabich, shakshouka, fries, and desserts. It will be open from 11:30 am – 8:30 pm Sunday through Thursday and 11:30 am – 3 pm on Fridays.

Amba is under the kashrus  supervision of Rabbi Ben-Tzion Welton of the Vaad HaKashrus of Northern California.
