Review: Treat House on the Upper West Side (NYC)

Yesterday, I stopped by  Treat House on the Upper West Side in NYC while walking down Amsterdam Avenue to see what all the hype is about. In my opinion, Treat House is a kind of like a “Rice Krispies treat” version of Crumbs. The woman behind the counter was friendly, as was the owner, Jen.

I thought it was a little bit overpriced, at $2.25 for one small square treat, and 4 for $8, but I figured “Hey, it’s a ‘treat’!” and I got 4, 2 for me and 2 for a friend. I had the chocolate pretzel and chocolate peanut treats. Both were yummy but not out-of-this-world and they felt pretty caloric. My friend loved the maple flavored one, and she liked the pumpkin treat but was unpleasantly surprised to find a whole clove used as decoration on top when she was expecting the whole thing to be sweet.

Overall, I think Treat House is a good addition to the Upper West Side kosher scene and will probably appeal to children or Shabbos guests looking for a nice hostess gift. There is a cute little seating area in the back that had just finished being renovated when I walked in, but I took my treats to go.
