Help Me Plan My Trip to Israel

This winter I'll be traveling to Israel (thank you really cheap fares from El Al) and want to spend time in Tel Aviv, Eilat, and of course, Jerusalem.

It's unclear as to how long I'm going to spend in each area, but let's assume at least 3-4 days in TA, 2 days in Eilat, and a few days in Jerusalem.

I'm seeking some great tips from all of you … Great kosher restaurants, things to see, things to do, places to take my 2 year old son, things to experience, etc. (keeping in mind that I've spent a significant amount of time in Jerusalem – looking for some hidden secrets here).

Comment below with your advice, or tweet me (@YeahThatsKosher) with your tips using #IsraelTripTips.  I will copy some of the best tips and tweets into this post.

  • This past August, I took a tour of Har HaBayit, (yes, Har HaBayit), and it was simply amazing. Highlight of the trip. The experience guide – Nachman Kupietsky – knows where he’s going and what he’s doing. I can’t recommend this enough. And he only asks for tzedkah instead of a fee. Reach him at nachelke@netvision.net.il

  • Deer Land in Gush Etzion is fun for little ones. Lot of cool animals, playground equipment and kiddie rides. Or, you could hang out with the Zeffs!

  • I have a friend in the Old City who is an unbelievable gourmet and hidden treasure. She makes her own liquor that is out of this world. Her home and her table are an unforgettable experience. Let me know if you want to go.

Can we plan a foodie meetup? Invite Gil Marks and Jamie Geller and make it a party at a gourmet restaurant? Let me know and we will make it happen!
