Kosher Restaurants @ New York & Los Angeles Restaurant Weeks 2012

This week starts the 20th annual NYC Restaurant Week, sponsored by American Express (offering cash back when using your AMEX card and signing up), which is actually more like 3 weeks (20 days) in NYC, and 12 days in LA. Many people having been tweeting us (via @YeahThatsKosher) and asking us on Facebook, which of the hundreds of participating restaurants are kosher.

So we've done the hard work for you, combed through the lists, and found a total of …. ZERO participating kosher restaurants. This shouldn't come as a shock since I don't believe any have participated in the past, but it is obviously disappointing for the many kosher consumers in NYC & LA.

Recently there have been many upscale kosher restaurants popping up in both NYC & Los Angeles, and that trend is surely here to stay.

Please sign & share the petition below so we can show the organizers of Restaurant Week that there is a demand for kosher restaurants to partake in their programs. Thanks!

Add Kosher Restaurants to Restaurant Week!

Dear Cities of New York & Los Angeles, and sponsoring American Express,

We are requesting that you seek out a handful of upscale kosher restaurants for your annual Restaurant Week events in New York & Los Angeles so that the Kosher observant population can also participate in the program.

It is not a secret that us Jews love to eat and also love to save money. Thus, not having Kosher restaurants participate in these events is disappointing for a large community in both cities.

If you need recommendations as to which upscale kosher restaurants to approach for your next restaurant week, please email dani@yeahthatskosher.com. We'll be more than happy to share our recommendations with you.

Thank you,
The Kosher Consumer

Sushein is also a great option for those looking for kosher options in NYC. It’s on broadway and they specialize in japanese food, particularly sushi. I love their conveyor belt setup and their rolls are always fresh. Staff is friendly, owner is nice, and the ambience is perfect for lunch or dinner with friends or that special someone. They also serve other items on their menu like pad thai, caramelized ribs, and steaK! Their steak is delicious! Pricey, but very tasty and delicious!
