Le Bagel Café, Brooklyn, NY [Guest Review]

Recently while visiting my mom in Brooklyn, I got to try one of the new restaurants to open up on Kings Highway: Le Bagel Cafe and is located on Kings Highway between E. 4th and E. 5th next to Hunan a new Glatt Kosher chinese restaurant that used to be Lucky’s Diner.

I was excited to go to a sit down bagel store as Flatbush’s best two bagel places Bagel Hole and Brooklyn Bagel have little to no seating.

Since I hadn’t had breakfast or lunch and it was already 2pm I had a pretty substantial meal. I ordered a low fat omelet which was made with 1 egg and 2 egg whites, tomatoes, onions, and olives and I asked for them to add some feta cheese as well. It came with a bagel and a plate of Israeli salad plus a coffee. Everything was delicious but I thought the prices were a bit high. The whole thing with tax cost me $8 and the portion was not all that big, but maybe I’m biased since I’m used to Bagel Boss in Hewlett – where the breakfast special (two eggs any style, potatoes, a bagel, a slice of melon, a small carton of OJ and a coffee) is just $5.

I thought the food was delicious and the menu had a lot of choices; it was pretty expensive. Due to price, I probably wouldn’t go back again as the place itself is nothing to write home about. It’s not like you’d go there for ambiance but if you do go – know that the food is tasty, albeit pricey.
